Enema Of The State - Blink 182

Speaking of albums that paved the way for current bands in the genre it's impossible not to talk about Enema Of The State.  It's literally impossible to live on this planet and not to have at least heard of Blink 182.  I don't care what your opinion on the band is, you have to respect them for how much they've accomplished and how much great music they have inspired.  Odds are if you have a favorite pop punk band and ask them who their inspirations are Blink 182 will be on the list.  And I don't think it's even possible to count the amount of garage bands that have been inspired by them or the amount of cover sets that have happened.  Blink 182 will forever be a band that the general population can agree on for being great.  I personally love everything about them from their shitty song writing to their immaturity.  I don't know what it is about that combination, but whatever it is, it makes for great music.

Ill Blood - No Warning

No Warning has been broken up for awhile minus a short EP they put out just last year but they still deserve to get talked about.  This album in my opinion is what inspired a good bit of what we could consider "modern" hardcore and without it there's a good chance that all of the music being put out today would sound way different.  No Warning has always gotten plenty of respect from everyone and is usually looked back at very fondly as kind of a trailblazer for the current generation but I feel like a lot of newer kids to the scene have never given it a chance or even heard of it.  So if you're a new kid to hardcore and you've never given this a listen, this is your history lesson for the day.

Controlled By Death - Benchpress

This is the latest release from Benchpress and I really dug it when it first came out.  I like that they're a newer band that that really started taking shit seriously immediately and got their ass out on tour.  They've been all over the world already and they still haven't even released an LP.  I've never had the opportunity to see them live so I can't say with complete certainty, but it seems like they're a hard working group of dudes who always put out solid music.  This is some straight up pissed off metallic sounding hardcore and I love it.  Hopefully they'll keep everything up and put out an LP later this year.

Dedicated To Babies Who Came Feet First - Cold World

This album is a modern hardcore classic and it needs to be in everyone's collection.  Cold World is a fan favorite of so many hardcore kids and that is for good reason.  Last TIHC they brought the entire place down when they played and they always continue to show why they are such a power house these days.  This album is really what set them apart from the pack and if you've never listened to it that's on you.

Southern Places - Northern Faces

Writing that last post about HRVRD I remembered that these guys opened the Say Anything show I saw last summer before HRVRD and these guys absolutely killed it.  Usually during opening bands the crowd is still shifting around and talking or meeting up with the people that they came there with but from the second these guys hit their first note the entire crowd's focus did not leave the stage once.  For a new band with not much music at all I can already guarantee that these guys will go somewhere with their music.  The following months after I saw them live I don't think I stopped listening to this EP and I can't wait for them to release something new so I can abuse how much I listen to that too.  If you're a fan of literally any type of rock music listen to these guys and you won't be disappointed.
