Strangers To Ourselves - Modest Mouse

I'm a little late to the game on this one but at the same time I've never really been into Modest Mouse so I'm impressed with myself for catching it this fast.  I had heard good things about the song Lampshades On Fire from this album so I went and checked it out and it's one of the catchiest damn songs that I've ever heard.  I've listened through the entire album now a few songs and overall it is a pretty good album.  There are definitely a few standout songs and there are a few songs that I'm really not a fan of.  The song Pistol makes me want to kill myself for example.  But overall it's worth listening to even if you're normally not into this type of music.  I know that I have never sat down and listened through a Modest Mouse album until earlier this week but after this one I'm sure that I'll try to keep up to date on them.

Supermodel - Foster The People

Foster The People is sick and I've really enjoyed them ever since they first showed up around 2011.  To anyone that thinks of them as that band that only has the song Pumped Up Kicks then you've obviously never given them a solid listen.  Their first album Torches was amazing and this album is a really solid follow up to it.  It's got a really nice and easy vibe that's good to listen to if you're just chilling around.  Foster The People is really good at adding catchy hooks that will spend way too much time stuck in your head and you'll find yourself humming them at the least convenient of times.  Check this album out because I'm sure it will end up being a massive success this year.

Heavy Head- Elder Brother

The lovechild of The Story So Far’s Kevin Geyer and Daybreaker’s Dan Rose, Elder Brother is a brand new indie band that has been generating a lot of buzz in the scene, for good reason. The duo’s music is catchy and creative, a statement that anyone who heard the first three singles (Throw Me to the Wolves, In My Bones, and Pennsylvania) will attest to. Although the band is officially still only a two-piece, Elder Brother was assisted in the studio by Gus Pesce of Defeater and Matthew and Charles Vincent of The American Scene. The American Scene’s influence is quite obvious, especially through Matthew Vincent’s bass lines. The album isn’t out until March 11^th, but Elder Brother streamed it today, so there’s no excuse to starting jamming it now. If you like The American Scene or Kevin Geyer’s acoustic stuff, I guarantee you will like this album.

Love The Future - Chester French

Chester French never really took off quite like I expected when I first heard them years ago.  They've done things like tour with Lady Gaga and release songs with Travis Barker and Pharrell but they've never really been noticed for the amazing songwriters that they are.  I've always loved this band and this album always brings me back to the exact moment that I was when I first heard it.  If you're a fan of indie-ish/pop/alternative music listen to this album and I promise you will not be disappointed.  I have a feeling that there's still a chance they'll have a huge breakthrough within the next year or so because DA their singer recently had a song released by Tyler, The Creator for some reason.  So I have no idea what will actually happen with this band, but this album will always be good enough for me to go back and listen to.

You're Gonna Miss It All // Sports - Modern Baseball

I've been sleeping on Modern Baseball for way too long now.  I first remember hearing about them two years ago and I completely discredited it because the kid I heard it from was known to like shitty generic pop punk music.  Today I finally decided to give their new album a listen after hearing nothing but good reviews from friends and seeing it all over the internet.  After listening to just the first two songs on the album I realized that these guys would become one of my favorite bands.  The lyrics are perfect in describing every little thought that probably goes through your head on a daily basis.  From bitching about people who spend too much time with their face buried in their phone, to fantasizing about how great it would be if the world ended these guys have it all.  I love that both of these albums have the indie/emo upbringing but you can hear hints of folk inspiration throughout almost every song.  If you have been dumb like me, give these guys a listen immediately.  You definitely won't regret it.
